On November 7, 2025, eight of us visited a 300-MWp Solar Farm owned by TotalEnergies: Xingpeng Li, Jesus Silva-Rodriguez, Rida Fatima, Ann Mary Toms, Hassan-Zahid-Butt, Fan Jiang, Linhan Fang, and Haoxiang Wan.

Many thanks to our tour host Dr. Thuan Pham - a former PhD student from our group.
-
It was a great experience to visit a large-scale solar farm in the field, especially for us who often simulate and model solar power in our research.
-
We had a close look at the solar panels, single-axis trackers, power cables, disconnectors, inverters, transformers, and the substation (circuit breakers, switches, capacitor banks, transformers, relays, SCADA software system, onsite backup batteries).
-
This solar farm has a dedicated 345 kV transmission line that connects it to the ERCOT 345 kV transmission network.
-
After the tour, we had a group lunch at Puerto Vallarta - a nice Texan-Mexican food resturant.
