Argonne National Laboratory Internship - Haoxiang Wan - Summer 2026

2026-09-02

"From May to August 2026, Haoxiang Wan worked as a summer research intern in the Energy Systems and Infrastructure Assessment Division at Argonne National Laboratory, supervised by Dr. Jonghwan Kwon. He integrated GPU-accelerated optimization solvers into the Argonne Large-scale Electricity Analysis Framework (A-LEAF), an integrated national-scale simulation framework for power system operations and planning. He then used it to study generation expansion planning under uncertain data center deployment in Texas, which led to a first-authored journal paper with Argonne researchers. Through the internship, Haoxiang gained hands-on experience with national laboratory planning tools and high-performance computing."
