Received ETI Funding on Data Center Grid Interconnection

2026-02-27
  • Our project entitled “Grid Interconnection of Data Centers: Hosting Capacity Analysis and System Expansion” has been selected by UH Energy Transition Institute (ETI). Our proposal was among the top 15% of all 39 submitted proposals.

  • The project funding is $120,000 with a performance period of 18 months. There is no overhead charges for this project. This is a collaborative project with my colleague Dr. Jianyi Yang from the Computer Science department at UH.

  • Our industry advisors include ERCOT (Texas grid operator) and CNP (utility for the Houston metro area). We will directly work with CNP on their real grid system including data center load capacity analysis, optimal grid expansion planning, and stability evaluation.

  • We are also welcoming additional relevant industry advisors especially data center owners, grid operators, and utilities. Please contact Dr. Li at xli83@central.uh.edu.
