Congratulations to Ann Mary Toms for successfully passing her PhD dissertation defense today on Oct. 13, 2026. Ann is our group’s 7th PhD graduate, and she is also the very first female PhD graduate of our group. Great work was done during her PhD studies, which she completed in 4 years!

Ann Mary Toms’s PhD Dissertation title: “Clean and Renewable Energy-Driven Microgrid Planning for Integrated Power Systems”
Her work includes:
- REMO – degradation-aware planning of renewable energy microgrids
- WAKE-NET – 3D wake-aware wind farm layout and economic optimization
- WATTER-NEX – co-optimization of community-scale water and energy infrastructure
- Hyperscale WATTER-NEX – integrated planning of power, cooling, water, and IT workloads for autonomous data centers.
